Oliver Scott

During Oliver Scott’s original stint with the group from 1979-83,
the multi-talented musician evolved from sideman in the horn section
to keyboardist, vocalist, songwriter and eventually the group’s bandleader.
He also penned one of their most enduring classics, “Yearning For Your Love,”
and earned a 1983 Grammy nomination for Best Instrumental Performance
by a Group or Individual, R&B for “Where Are We Going” from Gap Band IV.
In addition to working with numerous other R&B artists as a songwriter/producer
(Billy Paul, Yarbrough & Peoples), Oliver has released numerous gospel projects
and currently serves as Associate Pastor for Worship and Arts at Joy Tabernacle.
